Welcome to South Green Infant and Nursery School

Curriculum

Education does not start at school.
You have been educating your children
since they were born. You have taught
them to talk, walk and have shown them the correct way to behave. You have helped them develop numerous other skills. At South Green we actively encourage a partnership between parents and the school. In this way the children will see that we are working together and it is possible to see significant improvement in the standards of children who have the support of their parents.

WHAT WILL THEY LEARN?

Right from the start of the children's schooling we aim to deepen their experiences by addressing all areas of the Early Learning Goals during their time in Foundation and then through the carefully structured programmes of study in the National Curriculum. Great importance is put upon the core subjects of English, Mathematics, Science and ICT so that the children acquire the range of skills they need but we also feel that it is equally important to allow children to develop creative and aesthetic awareness. At South Green we are very proud of what our children achieve in these areas.

HOW WILL THEY WORK?

Children will work in many different ways. Sometimes they will work as individuals. At other times they will work co-operatively with a friend or in a small group. They will also be taught as part of a whole class but however they work, you may rest assured that they will do so at the appropriate level for their ability. The staff work extremely hard to ensure that the work set is challenging yet accessible to each

child.

REACHING THEIR POTENTIAL

We aim to encourage the natural abilities that every pupil possesses, providing opportunities to develop in confidence, independence and the chance to achieve personal success.
