Welcome to The Friends of South Green Schools page.  (School PTA)
We are a group of volunteers that organise fundraising and social events for the

Infant & Nursery and Junior Schools.

Over the years the 'Friends' have been able to supply funds for a large number of projects, these include:
Nursery – New Nursery building, updating their story book library, new reading corners and furniture.
Infant School – Climbing Frame, hall curtains, stage equipment, classroom reading corners, library and foyer furniture, re-surfacing the playground and subsidising educational speakers and visits.
Juniors School – Subsidising educational speakers, visits and residential trips such as Skreens Park, Thriftwood and Stubbers.  Providing classrooms with new book stocks.  Supplying new furniture for the Thrive room and picnic benches in the playground.

Currently our fundraising initiatives will be going towards supplying the Junior’s with a playground shade canopy.  The Infants are yet to confirm what they would like next.

Every parent whether their child is in Nursery or Year Six is automatically a member of the 'Friends' organisation and we’d be delighted to have your support in raising funds to make the schools an even more exciting and rewarding place for your children to attend.

'Friends' meetings are open to all and although we should have a Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer (so that all the legalities are covered), that is about as formal as it gets. We meet once a term but more if we need them.

The committee team are:

Miranda Mills (Chairperson)

Josie Cubbin (Vice-chair)
Toni Middleton (Treasurer)
Natalie Tracey  (Secretary)

We would love to see you - come along to one of the meetings if you’re free.
To find out more and for regular updates on what’s being planned request to join our Facebook group.

If you are unable to attend our meetings there are plenty of other ways you can still help the schools.  For example, do you shop online or work for a large organisation?

Take a look at the links and information below:

Easyfunding

Using Easyfundraising is just about the simplest way to raise money.  Easyfundraising works with over 2000 retailers who have all agreed to pass a donation on when you shop with them.

Larger retailers include Amazon, Tesco, M&S, John Lewis, Argos and 2000 other well known names.

All you need to do is register (for free) and then raising money is just a couple of clicks away!

Once registered, instead of going directly to the retailer website, log into easyfundraising first and click on the retailer you want to shop with. You’ll then be taken to the retailer’s website where you shop as you would normally - but because you visited easyfundraising first, the schools get a donation. It really is that simple, and 100% catch free.

AmazonSmile

AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support a charity of your choice every time you shop, at no cost to you. AmazonSmile is available on your web browser and can be activated in the Amazon Shopping App for iOS and Android phones.

When you shop with AmazonSmile, you’ll find the exact same low prices, vast selection and convenient shopping experience as amazon.co.uk, with the added bonus that AmazonSmile will donate a portion of the purchase price to your selected charity.

On your first visit to AmazonSmile, you will be prompted to select a charitable organisation to receive donations from your future eligible AmazonSmile purchases.  Our charity is known as ‘Friends of South Green Junior Schools’, charity no. 1027377. Please search for this when registering.  AmazonSmile will remember your selected charity whenever you shop at smile.amazon.co.uk or with AmazonSmile activated in the Amazon Shopping app, and then every eligible purchase you make through AmazonSmile will result in a donation for your selected charity. AmazonSmile will occasionally contact you about donation amounts disbursed to your chosen charity or about the programme.

Match Funding

Many companies throughout the UK offer employees the chance to boost their fundraising efforts by 'matching' the money they raise.
Not all companies offer matched funding but those that do will pledge a sum of money relating to the amount their employee has raised for or donated to the charity of their choice.

There is no definitive list but generally speaking, banks and building societies, insurance companies, supermarkets, utilities providers, phone companies and car manufacturers are known historically to offer match funding schemes.

Would you be willing to check with your employer whether a scheme is already in place or if they'd be able to set one up?

Match Funding monies raised for South Green Schools:
2015 - £3000,  2016 - £2000,  2017 - £3200,  2018 - £3600

Personalised Name Labels

The Friends of South Green Schools have teamed up with Stikins to offer parents the opportunity to purchase quality labels for your children’s school uniform, whilst earning the school commission at the same time! This money can then be used to continue to help purchase some of the fantastic resources that benefit our children’s learning.
As we all know, lost property is a problem in all schools and I am sure we are all familiar with our child, at some point, coming home from school with a missing item. As parents, we are aware that time is precious, which is why we think these labels are such a great idea; they simply stick onto the clothing wash label. They can even be used in shoes! Naming of clothing is a school requirement and we are hoping that with this opportunity we can start to eliminate some of parents’ frustrations that surround these issues.
How it works:
Each order placed quoting the school reference number 18223 will provide the school with 30% commission. Use order your labels online use this link.

And finally...
